Inside the Venus Grotto. In the foreground, we see Ludwig's "Musselboat," with Cupid on its bow. The Grotto was built for an audience of one...there is a box seat for the King, and a "box seat stall" for his horse. The pool had a wave machine, and the stage (in front of the mural to the rear) was lighted with electricity. Here the King could live in the world of his favorite Wagner operas.
